As a registered Republican I am supporting Fred Karger for president at this moment of time. I may have my top three choices, but for the moment I am supporting Fred. Right now, I am hoping Fred gets included in the pollsters questions of who Republicans across our nation want for their presidential choice.

We need someone who will be immune to the charges that they want to eliminate Medicare for the seniors, and someone who would be pragmatic that can reach out to young people and groups that typically do not vote Republican.

Since debates are asking for candidates with popular support, I have sent an email to the PPP and Gallup pollsters to get Fred included for their polling.

Americans deserve a wide choice for their primary vote to determine who will be the Republican nominee against President Obama in 2012.

It seems most of my positions conflict with each other, I support private sector job creation. However most of the people who are big on reducing regulations to promote private sector job creation are not really big on supporting the equality of LGBT people in our state and our nation.

While the people who support LGBT equality are not traditionally for making it easy for people to create private sector jobs in California. I hate being the official contrarian on Facebook pages or your local gathering of people. I did not vote for many Republicans in the 2010 election, but I did vote Yes on Proposition 23 because I understand that AB 32 is making it harder for California businesses to grow. I bet most right leaning and Libertarian minded folk supported that ballot measure, but I think we want to help promote job creation we should try to be more inclusive. Such as not scaring people like me who may not be socially conservative and perhaps reach out to the people of Spanish speaking heritage to state that the Democrats are not there to help you get employed when they scare off the businesses.

How can we promote freedom and opportunity, when you close off freedom and opportunity like the environmental radicals in the Democratic Party? We need to advocate for personal as well as economic freedom. It stinks when both sides only deliver one part of the equation, but if you value both you lose on one of the issues depending on who you team with.

I may not be a pure conservative or a pure liberal, but if Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Organization can not support personal freedom for all Californians then we need to find a new advocate to reach out to Californians. We need a Gary Johnson type figure to run for Governor in 2014, Carl De Maio?

There is a new bill that aspires to require state schools to teach about the contributions of gay, lesbian and transgendered Americans in school curriculum. However there is an outcry from traditional values advocates and social conservatives against the proposed bill from State Senator Mark Leno, SB 48.

SB 48 would require that social science texts and other instruction include “a study of the role and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered Americans to the economic, political and social development of California and the United States of America, with particular emphasis on portraying the role of these groups in contemporary society. This bill also has rules stating that school districts would have the flexibility to decide which age groups received such instruction. So if Bakersfield wanted to discuss these topics in the junior year of high school and San Francisco wants to discuss this in the fifth grade, then that would be the choice of the particular communities of our state.

Maybe the best idea would be is to have it passively mentioned in our social science textbooks, and if a teacher does not want to discuss the subject then that is the right of the educator or the school district. Maybe if people knew some leading LGBT people in American history such as Oliver Sipple, a decorated Vietnam War veteran who saved President Ford’s life during an assassination attempt in California or Bayard Rustin, a civil rights activist who helped make the March on Washington possible for Martin Luther King people would have better understanding of LGBT people. I just find it absurd from the mouths of legislators such as State Senator Bob Huff that “SB 48 will sexualize the training of our children at an early age”, when there are clauses that prevent school districts from being mandated to discuss these subjects in the early grades and just because people know that Ellen DeGeneres is a lesbian is not going to convert people to be queer.

Just because someone is heterosexual or homosexual, it is not just about sex. You can still be heterosexual or homosexual without talking about sex acts. It is also about affection.

I know that even if we talk about the positive accomplishments of minority communities within our state and nation, people are still going to harbor hostility to various groups. People still want to have the right to teach their prejudices against people, but it is not realistic to expect all of us to live in perfect harmony even though it is our desire. I would love to vote for Republicans, when Governors Brown and Davis laid the seeds that made our state budget crisis worse. However I can understand why California Secretary of State Debra Bowen left the Republican Party in 1984 because the Republican party lacked “compassion and tolerance and respect for others.” Maybe if State Senator Huff and others had more empathy towards LGBT people, perhaps we can reclaim some of those decline to state voters back to the Republican Party.

Over at Pam’s House Blend they are discussing how 2010 may be fatal for the LGBT community and their fellow progressive allies because the Republican Party is most likely going to get the majority in both houses of congress. It is understandable that there is some fear in the possibility that President Obama miscalculated his mandate to the American People and that the American People did not realize that Obama was one of the most left winged presidents in American history.

However Republicans will need to tread carefully in 2010 and not go overboard like the Democratic Party has in their four years of power in congress. The American voter is not afraid to make a correction and go back to the Democratic Party if the Republicans spend worse than President Obama and decide to submit to the theocratic branch of the conservative movement with upcoming legislation.

The middle is where its at in politics. I hope we can change the status quo in 2010 and I hope my individual rights and liberties do not get infringed with the change of leadership in congress.

Want to read the greatest horror novel published today? No, it is not written by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. The greatest horror novel published today is the Obama health care reform project. President Obama and his allies in congress want to pass his plan in the dead of night so we the people will not have a chance to find out what horrific plans he has for the people of our nation.

There is no freedom of choice in the president’s health care reform package. Once you leave your private insurance plan or your employer ceases to offer insurance you will be booted to the public option. If you are on Medicare, don’t think you will be able to stay there either because you will be on the public option as well.

If you have friends or family in the special needs community such with Down’s syndrome do not expect the government to take care of their health care needs because enrollment in the public option will be limited.

If you are a physician do not expect that you will be paid more because you are a cardiologist or an ear nose throat specialist. In Obama’s world all of you will be paid the same from general practitioner to specialist. This will lead to the decrease in the number of specialists serving the needs of the people of our country.

If you are a patient you will be treated like a cog on the assembly line because physicians will be limited to how much time they can spend with you as a patient. And if you have to be readmitted because of illness or injury you will still have to abide by mandatory waiting periods no matter how severe your condition may be.

If you are elderly the government is going to encourage you to kill yourself for the good of the nation. Senior citizens will be required to attend end of life counseling each five years about the different ways you can end your life. If you liked Soylent Green you will like Obama health care reform. And government will force you to instruct and consult your life with living wills and durable powers of attorney.

The government not your doctor or family will be the only ones authorized to decide if you should have life support systems or terminal disease health care turned off. Most likely it will happen frequently because government will want to cut costs in the name of life.

There is still more to uncover on the health care bill being proposed by the Democratic leadership and President Obama, and part two will come shortly so you will know what is going on.
